Quoted on Donna Lynn Woodard's web page (http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Plains/9095/martindale.html) JOHN MARTINDALE (Martindell) b. 24 Oct. 1676 in England; came to America in 1684; settled in Newtown, Bucks couonty, PA., before 1700 he mar. MARY BRIDGEMAN, daughter of WALTER and BLANCHE (Constable) BRIDGEMAN who were mar. 26 June 1686 (OS) at Middletown, Bucks county having come to America on the same ship in 1682, Blanche in company of her brother THOMAS CONSTABLE. The Constables were from Cornwall, England. Mary Bridgeman was b. 1687. John Martindale was a cordwainer (shoemaker) and the family lived in Philadelphia. Mary inherited land in Bucks county originally entered by her father. I have a copy of that document and it clearly shows William Penn's signature on it. John Martindell d. 5 Oct. 1750 and Mary d. 7 Dec. 1726. They were members of the Society of Friends. Mary Bridgeman's diary which was presented to her on her 18th birthday is in the library of the Buck's County Historical Society, Doylestown, PA., and contains some records of her children. I have a transcribed certified copy of Mary's diary.
